The BEST committee is concerned about environmental engineering, which is defined as the set of sciences and techniques used for the optimization of design, development, production and testing of new products or systems, whatever manufactured products or production systems. It shouldn't be confused with the protection of the milieu, even if the border between the two disciplines is uncertain and the reciprocal interaction actual.
Le Comité dénommé BEST (Belgian Environmental Sciences and Techniques) axe ses travaux sur l'ingénierie environnementale. Celle-ci est définie comme l'ensemble des sciences et techniques utilisées pour optimaliser la conception, le développement, la production et les tests de nouveaux produits ou systèmes, qu'il s'agisse d'un produit manufacturé ou d'un système de production. Il ne faut pas la confondre avec l'ensemble des techniques de protection du milieu, même si la frontière entre ces deux disciplines est floue et l'interférence réciproque réelle.
Environmental Engineering wordt gedefinieerd als het geheel van wetenschappen en technieken aangewend tot optimalisatie van de conceptie, de ontwikkeling, de productie en het testen van nieuwe producten of systemen, of het nu gaat om een vervaardigd product of een productiesysteem. Men mag dit niet verwarren met het geheel van technieken ter bescherming van het milieu, zelfs al is de grens tussen deze twee disciplines vaag en de wederzijdse interferentie reeel.
The BEST committee has recently published its first 'Select Directory of Mechanical and Environmental Engineering', gathering 85 laboratories and institutions, at the service of research and industry. After the success of the first edition, The directory will be further developed, as it encounters the need of firms who want to know how their products can be tested, when they are subjected to vibrations, temperature solicitations, shocks or electromagnetic interferences.
Le comité BEST ou 'Belgian Environmental Sciences and Techniques' développe surtout son action d'information et de formation sur les tests, méthodes et procédures d'optimalisation ou de qualification: les laboratoires d'essai , les sociétés de service, les bureaux de consultation et les ingénieurs sont les destinataires désignés pour ce type d'activités.
Le comité vient d'éditer le premier 'SELECT DIRECTORY of Mechanical and Environmental Engineering' regroupant 85 laboratoires et institutions prêts à servir l'industrie et le monde de l'Enseignement. Il est d'autre part né du besoin exprimé par maintes entreprises de savoir où leurs produits peuvent être testés :
De commissie BEST of 'Belgian Environmental Sciences and Techniques' heeft hoofdzakelijk activiteiten in het inlichten over en het opleiden in het testen, optimalisatie- of kwalificatiemethodes of -procedures. Proeflaboratoria, dienstverlenende verenigingen, consultatiebureaus en ingenieurs zijn de aangewezen bestemmelingen voor dit soort activiteiten.
De commissie heeft onlangs de eerste 'Select Directory of Mechanical and Environmental Engineering' uitgegeven die 85 laboratoria en instellingen groepeert die ten dienste staan van Industrie en Onderwijs. Dit eerste repertorium geldt als experiment maar zijn succes spoort aan het verder te ontwikkelen. Het repertorium is ontstaan uit de behoefte van veel ondernemingen die willen weten waar hun producten getest kunnen worden (trillingen, temperatuur, schokken, EMC...).
Le comité BEST oeuvre aussi au sein du CEEES (Committee of European Environmental Engineering Societies, 9 pays membres, indirectement associé aux travaux de l'American IES) au sein duquel trois groupes d'experts étudient les méthodes (et les normes) relatives aux problèmes de transport (transportation stresses), à la fiabilité et aux impacts climatiques sur la résistance des produits . Ces groupes sont ouverts à tous les experts en la matière. Tout membre de la BSMEE est membre du CEEES et repris dans son répertoire européen.
De commissie BEST werkt tevens in de schoot van het CEEES (Committee of European Environmental Engineering Societies, 9 lidstaten, onrechtstreeks verbonden met het werk van het Amerikaanse IES) waar drie groepen van deskundigen methodes (en normen) met betrekking tot transportproblemen (transportation stresses), betrouwbaarheid en impact van het klimaat op het weerstandsvermogen van producten bestuderen. Deze groepen staan open voor alle deskundigen in deze materie.
Le Comité organise également plusieurs journées d'études consacrées aux thèmes les plus actuels. Chaque membre du comité peut évidemment proposer l'organisation d'une journée d'information gratuitement ouverte aux membres de la BSMEE
De commissie organiseert ook studiedagen en symposia in samenwerking met andere verenigingen of instellingen.
